Materials and optics

The research objectives are firstly on the development and characterization of new materials for optics and photonics and other hand on the development of new instrumentation (optical sensors, lasers ...).

The force of this theme lies in its ability to achieve the materials (bulk crystals and thin films doped with rare earth fluorides, oxide nanostructured thin films codoped nanograins by silicon and rare earths, for example), to study their structural and optical characteristics, and to construct lasers prototypes or basic concepts devices.

Furthermore, skills in optics and instrumentation are harnessed to create original sensors and propose methods to control the laser beams.
